![]() At first, it seems his character will be the jokey one who'd find himself in sticky yet hilarious situations, but he quickly proves himself to be one hell of an officer and makes bridge-level life-or-death decisions. I opted to keep a happy-go-lucky attitude with Carter, with the greater good vibe of Starfleet as his morality meter, although I did choose to start a romance with another officer which… well, I'll get back to that. He chums along with fellow petty officer Nili Edsilar, an unjoined Trill, and is a talented young engineer. The other player character, Carter, has a gentler introduction he's part of the engineering team under Engineering Chief Chovak, an ultra-sarcastic Vulcan. Not being one to bend the knee on demand, I opted for a more "sure, but my loyalties are with Starfleet" approach-needless to say, the captain wasn't pleased. Jara joins the Resolute as an outsider and is made aware straight from the off that she'll need to work twice as hard to gain the crew's trust, but not before the captain demands absolute loyalty from her. Resurgence opens with that theme, with the Resolute having just been repaired after a catastrophic "malfunction" at the hands of Captain Solano. Star Trek captains often make difficult decisions that trickle down to the rest of the crew, sometimes involving sacrifice for the greater good. She's a Kobliad, an endangered race who rely on Deuridium infusions to survive. ![]() With Jara, you can choose to be a by-the-book type who's loyal to her captain or more of a character who plays fast and loose with the rules. Both are loyal Starfleet officers and aside from a few snide comments, there's no real option to go rogue. You switch between playing as First Officer Jara Rydek and Petty Officer Carter Diaz. ![]() she has to make some life-altering decisions, like whether or not to commit genocide. Only, the lower decks characters become the real heroes and villains in this story, showing that wearing three pins on your uniform isn't the be-and end-all. It brings together a balanced mix of bridge crew antics-a well-established Star Trek approach-and the inspiring, comic-relief side of the lower decks, which we've seen in the newest animated series. Also, everyone is wearing DS9-style uniforms, so you know it's going to be good. It's set in 2380, right after the events of Nemesis and 16 years after the beginning of The Next Generation. Star Trek: Resurgence is meant to represent roughly three full-length films and ties in nicely to the post-TNG era series and movies. ![]() Rather than having five distinct acts or episodes that arrive separately, you'll get to play it all at once as you swap between the two player characters, who each get their own uniquely titled episodes, much like you'd see in The Next Generation. Resurgence isn't an episodic tale, at least not in the traditional Telltale sense. But Dramatic Labs offers something more: complicated puzzles, stealth sequences, time-sensitive exploration objectives, better cinematics, and an overall departure from the Telltale default of feeling like you're watching an interactive movie. The Telltale formula of a strong narrative combined with morally ambiguous decision-making-and plenty of QTEs-seems to fit the Star Trek storytelling style perfectly. ![]()

One of our favorite speech blogs has made a chart to help understand phonological processes! Learn more about the patterns you may hear, and the age at which we would expect them to go away! This can cause frustration for the child and their communication partner, as there can be difficulty with understanding. For example, children who continue to delete the initial consonant from a word may say “all” to mean each of these words: fall, ball, wall. Many times children do not hear the differences in the words and will say one word to mean three different ones. This allows them to become better communicators. As children stop using phonological processes, their speech becomes more understandable. In fact, by age 5, most children stop using all phonological processes and their speech sounds more like the adults around them. Examples include "wa-wa" for "water", "tat" for "cat" "do" for "dog" or "ha" for "hat." Up to three years of age, these patterns are appropriate.Īs children mature, so do their speech sounds and they stop using these patterns to simplify words. Young children use these simplified patterns as they learn to produce their sounds. All children use these processes while their speech and language develops. Sound errors can follow a pattern called a phonological process - a simplification of adult speech. Not all errors in speech are due to articulation. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When the Windows 10 Anniversary Update releases later in July, users who have been hesitant to try out Edge may find themselves with one less reason to not try out this evolving web browsing experience. Because the consistency in the battery performance between the HD 8 and HD 8 Plus is amazing. We even know that running the same battery test on the same device will often return different results. Room temperature and the size and quality of the movie file can all influence how well a device does. We’ve run countless battery tests on countless devices, and have come to understand that results can vary based on a number of factors. Geekbench 3 is available in Amazon’s Appstore, but without scores from other devices to compare with the results, it wouldn’t tell us much. We even tried to sideload it - that is, install an app outside of the standard Appstore process - and that failed. We weren’t able to run our standard benchmark app on either tablet due to Geekbench 5 not being listed in the Amazon Appstore. In other words, the performance of the Fire HD 8 and HD 8 Plus is more than enough for something that serves up books, videos and the occasional Amazon shopping. It’s no secret Amazon’s tablets aren’t workhorses like the iPad Pro, but they’re not so slow and sluggish that they’re unusable. When we’re asked about Amazon’s Fire tablets, the conversation usually involves performance and whether it’s worth it. Entering a PIN code to unlock the tablet every single time we want to use it is cumbersome, but required by Amazon’s Fire OS due to sharing the tablet with kids. We would have loved to see a fingerprint sensor on either model. The rounded edges go a long way in improving the comfort of holding the Fire HD 8 and HD 8 Plus while we read our Kindle books or browse Amazon’s store. That said, and at risk of repeating ourselves, the new design is attractive. That’s not to say it’s bad, but instead, it’s exactly what you’d expect from a tablet with a plastic housing. They have plenty of volume and a clear sound quality, which is hard to find in low-end tablets. The top of the Fire HD 8 is where you’ll find the dual speakers, which surprisingly don’t sound bad. On the bottom edge of the housing is a microSD card slot that accepts up to 1TB of additional storage, giving you the option to add plenty of room for your kids’ games, books and videos. We can use the same cables that we use to charge other gadgets, with most Android and accessory makers having made the switch. We embrace the move from micro USB to USB-C for charging. The power button, volume controls, USB-C port for charging and data transfer, and a headphone jack are on the right side. The tablet measures 8 by 5.4 by 0.4 inches and weighs 12.5 ounces, about three-quarters of a pound. The 8-inch screen has a resolution of 1280x800, meaning it can handle 720p HD with ease. ![]() The front and back cameras capture 2-megapixel images, and while they’re not the sharpest of cameras, they get the job done. There’s also a camera on the back of the tablet. The move makes sense as it’s primarily designed for use in video calls, which are undoubtedly better in landscape mode. When the tablet’s held horizontally, the camera is now centered at the top, rather than on the side. The two devices are identical on the outside, with the differences between the HD and HD Plus coming down to the Plus having 3GB of memory (instead of 2GB), wireless charging support, and a 9-watt wall adapter for faster wired charging in the box. What is the root cause of adrenal fatigue?Ĭortisol is important for survival, but it’s meant to be released just during short periods and only when really needed. Excess or high levels of cortisol can throw your whole endocrine system off-balance. In modern life, however, stress doesn’t just show up in isolated incidents. You encounter danger, your adrenal stress response kicks in to help you escape it, and then you get to relax and recover. This “fight-or-flight response” is an ancestral system based on the idea that stress is temporary. Your body is pre-programmed to react to stress in a way that protects you from danger.
